TRANSCRIPT

Todays guest is James Hey. James is a cycling coach and in this podcast we be discuss the inspiring story of his three young female Afghan cyclists who fled their home country to the UK and are now aiming to compete in the time trial event in Paris for the Olympics.

We'll be talking about the challenges these girls faced in Afghanistan, including the humanitarian crisis and the ban on women's sports by the Taliban. We'll also explore the logistical difficulties they faced in leaving their country and the disruption to their training.

We'll delve into the cultural changes in Afghanistan, which now make it difficult for women to participate in sports, especially cycling. We'll talk about the emotional trauma the girls may have faced, and how they're dealing with it.

“It's just forming those habits. As you know, as a cyclist, we've become particular. I mean, I know I did start away my audits and started looking at exactly what time I'm going to eat the audits and, and all this kind of stuff. ”
