Pushing The Limits Of Performance With Steve Magness
Doing Hard things is a mantra that is front and centre of everything that’s done at The Roadman Cycling Podcast offices. Steve Magness is a pro on the subject. So much so that he wrote a book on it. Steve was a successful running coach in the Nike Oregon Project and it was he who eventually blew the whistle on Alberto Salazar and the morally corrupt practices within the organisation. Some label him “whistleblower”, but we prefer to think of him as a teller of truth. His books include Do Hard Things, Peak Performance, The Passion Paradox, and The Science of Running. They have sold more than 300,000 copies and have been translated into more than 15 languages.
“ You know, in my athletic career, I used to say, coaching comes from conversations, which is we learn from the conversations that we have, and then we like transmit those to other people. And that knowledge kind of flows. ”
- Steve Magness

Joovv Everyone Needs Healthy Light, But Most People Don’t Get Enough. Light is essential for our health and cellular function, just like water, sleep, and the nutrients from food. The human body is designed to function with an abundance of natural sunlight, but with our modern lifestyles, most people don’t get nearly enough light every day. The average American spends over 90% of their time indoors. That’s not nearly enough natural light for optimal health and balance! Worse yet, much of the time we spend indoors is filled with bright blue light from screens and overhead lighting, which can have a negative effect on sleep and circadian rhythms.

Patreon is the heart beat of the Roadman Podcast. The Podcast is possible five days a week because of the community support. The price of a pint of beer, once per month, makes all the difference.
There are a few simple ways you can support the show and the content we strive to craft and share every single week
Subscribe & Review: Please make sure to review, share comments and subscribe to the show on the various platforms (Apple Podcasts, YouTube & Spotify). This helps tremendously!
Patronise Our Sponsors: Supporting the companies that support the show! Sometimes it’s easier to buy the Amazon book that support the local book store but when we support brands who support the projects we love it strengthens the entire cycling eco system.
Spread The Word: Help grow our reach by sharing your enthusiasm for the podcast and/or your favourite episodes by posting about it on social media, tagging someone who needs to hear it or posting into club Whatsapp/Facebook groups.
Thank The Team: I do not do this alone. Send your love to Sarah Ann Egan for co-hosting the podcast every Friday. To Cassandra Laforteza for her work behind the scenes creating show notes and managing social channels. And to Beau Elliot for making the video podcast possible over on Youtube with his sublime editing skills.
