What It Takes To Excel On Gravel With Alexey Vermeulen

TRANSCRIPT

Road has its icons from yester-year. We tell old war stories about Coppi & Barteli but gravel is just getting started. The hero's journey in this script hasn't yet been written. If we do indeed tell stories many years from now about racing today, the formative gravel years, Alexey Vermeulen will be one of the main characters.

Alexey made the transition from World Tour to Full time gravel privateer. Today he talks us through what it takes to be a good gravel rider, the lifestyle differences and the mental toughness you need to succeed in this sport.

“you have to go through your ups and downs and you just got to eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel that you get to go down or get a cookie on top or get a beer on top and spin spin your way down”

- Alexey Vermeulen

Joovv Everyone Needs Healthy Light, But Most People Don’t Get Enough. Light is essential for our health and cellular function, just like water, sleep, and the nutrients from food. The human body is designed to function with an abundance of natural sunlight, but with our modern lifestyles, most people don’t get nearly enough light every day. The average American spends over 90% of their time indoors. That’s not nearly enough natural light for optimal health and balance! Worse yet, much of the time we spend indoors is filled with bright blue light from screens and overhead lighting, which can have a negative effect on sleep and circadian rhythms.

Thank The Team: I do not do this alone. Send your love to Sarah Ann Egan  for co-hosting the podcast every Friday.
